Six day-long cricket camp for young ladies aged between 11-15 years was conducted in Mombasa for the first time.
The purpose of the camp was to give the girls who have been outstanding during the various Cricket Kenya Coast mini-cricket tournaments an opportunity to be introduced to hard ball cricket. It was also aimed at keeping the young girls more interested in the game.
NIC Bank today presented the Coast Cricket Association and Mombasa Sports Club with cheque of Ksh 1.4 million to become the official sponsor of the a NEW annual Coast Cricket Tournament.
The tournament to be played at Mombasa Sports Club will be dubbed The NIC Cup 2015 ( The T20 Challenge) following the sponsorship.
This year first Coast Mini Cricket Tournament was held at Fahari Primary School ground on 13th April 2013
in which total of ten schools from Mombasa namely ziwani, Makande, Makupa, Arya, Mvita, RG Ngala, Fahari, Serani, Aga Khan and Nasserpuria took part. After a day of intense competition among ten schools, Arya Primary emerged champions after beating Ziwani by 8 wkts in a thrill packed match at the Fahari Primary School grounds.
