Mombasa Boys shine in ICC U19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Namibia.

4 Mombasa players namely 1, Raj Shikotra ( Vice –Captain) 2, Bhavya Thaker 3, Vinit Shikotra 4, Siddahant Taneja  played  for Kenya U19 Team, which qualified for the next round ( ICC U19 CWC Global Qualifier ).Another player Rajiv Sutaria was selected as a reserve players.

Kenya’s under-19 cricket team lead by Kennedy Ochieng  ( Captain) and assisted by Raj Shikotra ( Vice Captain) qualified for the global World Cup qualifiers after they beat Botswana by eight wickets in their last game of the African  qualifiers in Windhoek, Namibia, on Sunday.

The win put Kenya in second place in the pool table with 10 points behind hosts Namibia who were unbeaten in all their outings.

In last game, batting first Botswana were routed for 138 runs with 10 overs in hand. Varun Vijayakumar top scored for Botswana with 44 runs while Raj Savala was their main destroyer with five wickets for 19 runs. He was abely supported by Harrison Angila (2/19), Bhavya Thaker (1/25), Vinit Shikotra (1/28) and Duncan Allan (1/34).

All four Mombasa boys shown their talent and dedication in all the games they played. Out of four boys Vinit Shikotra was fantastic in both bowling and batting department and become a local hero after getting second highest wicket for Kenya by taking 14 wickets in 58.1 Overs at Average of 11.64 runs per wicket and standing at No 7 in Batting by scoring 76 runs at average of 15.20 per game.

However, they still have one more hurdle to clear, the global World Cup qualifiers where 10 teams, two each from Africa, Americas, Europe, Asia and East Asia Pacific, will fight it out for the six slots reserved for non-Test playing countries in the 2012 age group World Cup of which venue will be announce later.
