The Coast Cricket Association have concluded Pro40 over league on 12th March'11 and would like to congratulate Mombasa Sports Club A Team for winning this Tournament and remaining  unbeaten in all the 12 games they played with total points of 222. Coast Gymkhana stands at No 2 in this league with 165 points followed by Jaffery Sports Club with 160 points  and Mombasa Sports Club B with 134 points.

After finishing the CCA T20 Tournament in Aug’2010 won by Coast Gymkhana, CCA started the Pro40 Overs Tournament from 19thSept’2010 with 7 teams.

The Pro40 overs tournament was completed with lots of zeal and enthusiasm, This tournament saw a lot of talent from youngsters and  included those  playing in the age category for the Kenya National team. It also saw some high scoring (MSC A 313 runs against BSC) and low scoring (SCLPS 15 runs against MSC A) matches fought to the end.

A total of 42 matches were played and 10855 runs scored with 521 wickets taken.  However the teams need to go back to the basics and work on their fitness and discipline as 1595 extra runs were given away during this tournament. Mohamed Fazal of Jaffery Sports Club was the highest run getter with 584 runs in 11 innings with an average of 58.40 per game  with 6 half centuries. Seven centuries were scored in this Pro40 tournament by ( Jignesh Hirani – 2, Manoj Patel – 2, Mohamed Sawjani – 1, Rajiv Sutaria – 1 and Baba Juma - 1) with the highest individual score of 129 by Rajiv Sutaria of Mombasa Sports Club B against Shree Cutchi Leva Samaj.

In the bowling department the worm had a lots of ups and downs. Zahir Abbas Khaku was the top wicket taker with 28 wickets with an economy rate of 3.42 (per over). Zahir Abbas Khaku had the best bowling average in an innings by taking  6 wickets and giving away only 5 runs in his 4 overs against Shree Cutchi Leva Patel Samaj and Vinit Shikotra  had the  best bowling analysis during the league with an economy rate of 2.92 ( Runs per over) and with an average of 10.29 (runs per wicket)  taking an overall total of 21 wickets.

It would not be fair if CCA failed to mention  the role of the most important people without whom the game of cricket would not take place.  These are the Grounds man and the officials of  all the participating clubs, The Match Officials, CCA Executives and above all  the players without whom this tournament would not have been a success.
